The makita cordless hedge trimmers are well balanced, easy to operate and manipulate, and cut cleanly and efficiently, with sufficient power and cutting ability for applications around most yards. It will get a lot done with a single 3-ah battery with power to spare and you can also get a spare 5ah battery if you want. Although well-built, it is relatively light that the 18v version would enough for most yard or garden work unless you want to get the 36v model. Works well but doesn’t go crazy fast. It is really only for small to medium jobs like cutting twigs and its good for shaping. If you’re looking to really take out branches in your hedges then perhaps the 36v would be better. But for general maintenace it works well. Plus it’s not that heavy at all.
